How to Conjugate Regular Verbs - Part 2

In today's video we are going to study the second lesson on regular verbs. Today we are going to study verbs ending in ER in the present tense.
Regular verbs are those that follow the same pattern, and for this reason it is very easy to conjugate them, since if you learn one verb, you know how to conjugate all the other verbs of that same category.
In Portuguese, the most common regular verbs are those ending in AR and ER. In the last lesson, we have studied the verbs ending in AR and today we are studying verbs ending in ER in the present tense.
It is important to know that not all verbs ending in ER are regular. There are some exceptions, such as the verbs ser and ter, for example. But most verbs ending in ER are regular.
One of the most used verbs is the verb comer. Let's then see the conjugation of the verb comer in the present tense:
Eu como (I eat)
Você come (You eat)
Ele come (He eats)
Ela come (She eats)
A gente come (We eat - informal)
Nós comemos (We eat)
Vocês comem (You eat - plural)
Elas comem (They eat - feminine)
Eles comem (They eat - masculine)
As I said in the previous lesson, we also have the pronouns TU (you singular) and VÓS (you plural), but they are not used in Brazil. For this reason, I don't teach it to my students, since I think it is not worth studying something that you are not going to use.
So we have only four variations in the conjugation of these verbs, two in the singular form and two in the plural form.
In the singular form we have:
Eu como
Você/ ele/ ela/ a gente come
So these four pronouns use the same conjugation: come (eat).
And in the plural we have:
Nós comemos
Vocês/ eles/ elas comem
The last three pronouns also use the same conjugation.
Note that we always keep the same stem (COM-) and change only the ending, and this ending is always the same for all regular verbs ending in ER.
Now let's see another example with the verb beber (to drink), which is also a regular verb:
Eu bebo
Você/ela/ele/a gente bebe
Nós bebemos
vocês/ eles/elas bebem
Other common verbs ending in ER are correr (to run), conhecer (to know), receber (to receive), aprender (to learn), among many others. All these verbs are regular and follow the same pattern.
Regarding the pronunciation, it is important to remember that in these verbs conjugated in the present tense, the stressed syllable is the second to last.
Now Let's do an exercise to practice the pronunciation and conjugation of these verbs in the present tense. I'll give you a verb and a sentence for you to complete with this verb. Then I'll tell you the correct answer. Ready?
1. Comer: Eu ________ pizza. Resposta:
Eu como pizza. (I eat pizza.)
2. Beber: Você ________ suco. Resposta:
Você bebe suco. (You drink juice.)
3. Escrever: Ela ___________ um diário. Resposta:
Ela escreve um diário. (She writes a diary.)
4. Correr: Ele ____________ todas as manhãs. Resposta:
Ele corre todas as manhãs. (He runs every morning.)
5. Atender: A gente ___________ o telefone. Resposta:
A gente atende o telefone. (We answer the phone.)
6. Conhecer: Nós não _____________ o João. Resposta:
Nós não conhecemos o João. (We don't know John.)
7. Aprender: Elas ____________ rápido. Resposta:
Elas aprendem rápido. (They learn fast.)
8. Entender: Eles não ____________ português. Resposta:
Eles não entendem português. (They don't understand Portuguese.)
9. Viver: Vocês ___________ em Nova Iorque. Resposta:
Vocês vivem em Nova Iorque. (You live in New York.)

Como Conjugar Verbos Regulares - Parte 2

No vídeo de hoje estudaremos a segunda lição sobre verbos regulares. Hoje vamos estudar verbos terminados em ER no presente.
Verbos regulares são aqueles que seguem um mesmo padrão, e por esta razão é muito fácil conjugá-los, pois se você aprende um verbo, você sabe conjugar todos os demais daquela mesma categoria.
No português, os verbos regulares mais comuns aqueles terminados em AR e ER. Na lição passada, nós estudamos os verbos terminados em AR e hoje vamos estudar os verbos terminados em ER no presente.
É importante saber que nem todos os verbos terminados em ER são regulares. Existem algumas exceções, como os verbos ser e ter, por exemplo. Mas a maioria dos verbos terminados em ER são regulares.
Um dos verbos mais usados é o verbo comer. Vamos então ver a conjugação do verbo comer no presente:
Eu como
Você come
Ele come
Ela come
A gente come
Nós comemos
Vocês comem
Elas comem
Eles comem
Como falei na lição anterior, nós também os pronomes TU e VÓS, mas eles não são usados no Brasil. Por isso, eu não ensino aos meus alunos, pois acho que não vale a pena você estudar algo que não vai usar.
Temos e ntão apenas quatro variações de conjugação destes verbos, sendo duas no singular e duas no plural.
No singular nós temos:
Eu como
Você/ ele/ ela/ a gente come
Então estes quatro pronomes usam a mesma conjugação: come.
E no plural nós temos:
Nós comemos
Vocês/ eles/ elas comem
Os últimos três pronomes usam também a mesma conjugação.
Note que sempre mantemos o mesmo radical (COM-) e mudamos apenas o final e este final é sempre o mesmo para todos os verbos regulares terminados em ER.
Vamos agora ver um outro exemplo com o verbo beber, que também é regular:
Eu bebo
Você/ela/ele/a gente bebe
Nós bebemos
Vocês/ eles/elas bebem
Outros verbos muito comuns terminados em ER são correr, conhecer, receber, aprender, entre muitos outros. Todos estes verbos são regulares e seguem o mesmo padrão.
Com relação à pronúncia, é importante lembrar que estes verbos conjugados no presente têm a sílaba tônica na penúltima sílaba.
A última sílaba é bem fraca: como, come, comemos, comem.
Vamos agora fazer um exercício para praticar a pronúncia e conjugação destes verbos no presente. Eu vou dar um verbo e uma sentença para você completar com este verbo. E logo em seguida eu vou dizer qual é a resposta correta. Prontos?
1. Comer: Eu ________ pizza. Resposta:
Eu como pizza.
2. Beber: Você ________ suco. Resposta:
Você bebe suco.
3. Escrever: Ela ___________ um diário. Resposta:
Ela escreve um diário.
4. Correr: Ele ____________ todas as manhãs. Resposta:
