The Speaking Brazilian Academy is a membership program recommended for intermediate and advanced learners who want to become more fluent, improve, and maintain their Portuguese in an informal and fun setting.
The objective of the Academy is to give you a space to speak Portuguese regularly. The combination of the lessons, live classes, and support of our community will help you improve your Portuguese naturally by being in contact with the language in several different ways.

I’m Virginia, your Brazilian Portuguese teacher.
I created this school to help Portuguese learners around the world achieve their dream of becoming fluent in Brazilian Portuguese.
I’ve always been passionate about languages. Other than Portuguese (my native language), I also speak English, French, and Spanish. My own experience with foreign language learning has given me the vital tools to help my students in their learning journey.

Who should join the Speaking Brazilian Academy?
This course is recommended for intermediate and advanced learners who want to become more fluent, improve, and maintain their Portuguese in an informal and fun setting.
This course is not suitable for beginners (regardless of whether you speak a Romance language). At least 9-12 months of regular study is recommended before joining this course. Live classes are 100% in Portuguese. The minimum enrollment age is 18 years old.

How does the course work?
The course is a combination of a self-paced digital course and live classes via Zoom with a Brazilian teacher in a small group setting.
You can choose between the Basic Membership (digital course + weekly Q&A sessions) and the Premium Membership (digital course + conversation classes).
When you sign up, you’ll immediately have access to all previous modules that you can study at your own pace, plus one new module every month.
In addition to the digital course, the Premium Plan includes group classes via Zoom (6-10 students). Once a week, you’ll receive a link for a live lesson with your teacher and a small group of students. If you can’t attend the live class, you can watch a recording later. All classes are recorded, and a recording is available for 30 days.
What is the class schedule?
Every month, you will have access to a new module with a group of classes to study at your own pace. Each module is divided into 4 or 5 lessons, and we recommend studying one per week. Each lesson takes approximately 1 hour to complete.
The Basic Membership is completely self-paced, so you can set your own schedule.
The Premium Membership follows a set schedule with weekly group classes. You can choose the best time for your live classes when you sign up. Places per class are limited to 6-10 students. Live classes via Zoom last 55 minutes.
All memberships include a weekly Q&A session with teacher Virginia on Saturdays, time TBD.
How does the live class work?

Live classes are not mandatory but recommended. If you miss a class, you can watch a recording later. All classes are recorded and available for replay for 30 days.
If you join a live class, you agree to have the class recorded and to participate in class conversation and exercises. If you don’t want to participate in class, we recommend that you watch a recording instead.

When does the course start and finish?
The Speaking Brazilian Academy is not a regular course with a beginning, middle, and end. It is a membership program that offers you a place to practice Portuguese on a regular basis.
You can remain a member for as long as you like. There is no minimum commitment. We recommend that you stay on the program for at least six months to see good results.
How long do I have access to the course?
You will have access to the course library for as long as you remain a member. Its course library includes all 45+ previous modules and one new module per month.
When can I sign up for the course?
You can sign up for the Basic Membership at any time.
The Premium Membership is offered three times a year, in February, May, and September. Registration for each class opens a couple of weeks before the start date of each class.
