Oi pessoal! Aqui é a Virginia.
Você consegue entender os brasileiros quando eles falam entre eles? Um dos maiores desafios para estudantes de português é entender os brasileiros quando eles falam naturalmente. Isso é normal e acontece com todas as línguas.
Quando falantes nativos falam entre si, eles falam rápido, eles usam gírias e expressões idiomáticas, eles engolem letras, então é realmente difícil entender o que eles dizem. Mas não se preocupe! Na lição de hoje, eu vou dar 2 dicas que vão ajudar você a finalmente entender os brasileiros.
Antes de compartilhar com você 2 dicas para você entender os falantes nativos, eu gostaria de saber se um dos seus objetivos para este ano é aprender português ou melhorar seu português.

Agora, vamos começar a nossa lição.
Muitos alunos já me disseram que conseguem me entender bem, mas não conseguem entender seus amigos brasileiros. Isso acontece porque eu sou professora, então eu falo claramente e em um ritmo devagar, mas a maioria dos brasileiros não fala tão claramente quanto eu falo.
Entender brasileiros é um desafio por várias razões. Primeiro, porque a língua falada é completamente diferente da língua que encontramos nos livros de português e nas gramáticas. Segundo, porque cada cidade, cada região tem um sotaque diferente, expressões e regionalismos diferentes.
Além disso, quando falamos naturalmente, nós reduzimos as palavras e engolimos letras e até mesmo sílabas inteiras. Por exemplo, um brasileiro raramente vai dizer:
- Onde você está?
A pronúncia mais natural seria:
- Ont-cê tá?
Ou até mesmo, “oncetá?”, dependendo da região e do sotaque.
Então, por este exemplo, você pode entender por que é tão difícil entender brasileiros falando. Mas se você seguir as dicas que eu vou lhe dar, eu garanto que você vai melhorar muito a sua capacidade de entender os brasileiros.
Primeira dica: Ouvir, ouvir, ouvir, ouvir e ouvir.
Gente, não tem segredo ou fórmula mágica. Se você quer melhorar sua capacidade de entender brasileiros, você precisa ouvir brasileiros falando. Mas não apenas ouvir sem prestar atenção. Você precisa ouvir ativamente e prestar atenção ao que você está ouvindo.
Mas o que quer dizer, ouvir ativamente? Quer dizer que você não vai simplesmente ouvir enquanto você pensa no trabalho ou no que vai fazer para o jantar. Não, você vai parar tudo e fazer um exercício de escuta.
E para esse exercício funcionar, você precisa entender pelo menos a ideia geral do que está sendo falado, pelo menos 50% do que está sendo falado, pois dessa forma você vai aprender novas palavras pelo contexto.
Eu recomendo que você faça o exercício de escuta da seguinte forma:
Primeiro, leia e ouça ao mesmo tempo, tente identificar as palavras e conectar o som que você está ouvindo às palavras que você está lendo. Desta forma, você vai entender como as palavras são pronunciadas em um contexto mais natural.
Depois, ouça novamente o mesmo áudio e repita tudo o que você ouvir em voz alta, imitando a pronúncia do falante nativo. Com este exercício, você vai não apenas melhorar a sua pronúncia, mas também vai começar a entender muito melhor os falantes nativos.
Eu recomendo que você faça esse exercício de escuta por pelo menos 30 minutos por dia.
Para este exercício, procure por podcastsou programas de TV que você goste. Comece com programas mais fáceis de entender, e depois avance para programas mais avançados.
Para iniciantes, eu recomendo o Speaking Brazilian Podcast, porque eu falo claramente e em um ritmo lento.
Para alunos intermediários, eu recomendo o Café Brasil Podcast e os vídeos do Globo Repórter que você pode encontrar facilmente no YouTube. Além disso, recomendo que procure por séries e filmes brasileiros no Netflix.
E falando em Netflix, vamos para a segunda dica: Language Learning with Netflix.
O Language Learning with Netflix é uma extensão do Google Chrome gratuita que oferece ferramentas muito legais para você estudar línguas pelo Netflix. Por exemplo, você assistir a filmes com 2 legendas, uma em português e uma em inglês, e sempre que você não entender uma palavra, basta clicar na palavra para ouvir a pronúncia e ver o significado daquela palavra.
Eu recomendo muitíssimo oLanguage Learning with Netflix e recomendo muitíssimo que você assista a filmes e séries brasileiras. É um excelente exercício de escuta. Tem muitas séries brasileiras no Netflix, por exemplo:

- Irmandade

How to understand native speakers

Can you understand Brazilians when they talk to each other? One of the biggest challenges for Portuguese learners is to understand Brazilians when they speak naturally. This is normal and it happens with all languages.
When native speakers speak to each other, they speak fast, they use slangs and expressions, they drop letters, so it’s really difficult to understand what they are saying. But don’t worry! In today's lesson, I'm going to give you 2 tips that will help you finally understand Brazilians.
Before sharing with you 2 tips for you to understand native speakers, I’d like to know if one of your goals for this year is to learn Portuguese or improve your Portuguese.

Now, let's begin our lesson.
Many students have told me that they can understand me well, but they can’t understand their Brazilian friends. This happens because I’m a teacher, so I speak clearly and at a slow pace, but most Brazilians don’t speak as clearly as I do.
Understanding Brazilians is a challenge for several reasons. First, because the spoken language is completely different from the language found in Portuguese books and grammars. Second, because each city, each region has a different accent, different expressions and regionalisms.
Furthermore, when we speak naturally, we reduce words and drop letters and even whole syllables. For example, a Brazilian will rarely say:
- Where are you?
The most natural pronunciation would be:
- Ont-cê tá? (where are you?)
Or even, “oncetá?”, depending on the region and accent.
So, with this example, you can understand why it’s so difficult to understand Brazilians speaking. But if you follow the tips that I’ll give you, I guarantee that you will greatly improve your ability to understand Brazilians.
First tip: Listen, listen, listen, listen and listen.
Guys, there is no secret or magic formula. If you want to improve your ability to understand Brazilians, you need to hear Brazilians speaking. But don't just listen without paying attention. You need to actively listen and pay attention to what you are hearing.
But what does it mean, to actively listen? It means that you won't just listen while you think about work or what you're going to do for dinner. No, you're going to stop everything and do a listening exercise.
And for this exercise to work, you need to understand at least the general idea of what is being said, at least 50% of what is being spoken, because that way you’ll learn new words from context.
I recommend that you do the listening exercise as follows:
First, read and listen at the same time, try to identify the words and connect the sound you are hearing to the words you are reading. This way, you’ll understand how the words are pronounced in a more natural context.
After that, listen to the same audio again and repeat everything you hear out loud, imitating the pronunciation of the native speaker. With this exercise, you’ll not only improve your pronunciation, but you’ll also begin to understand native speakers much better.
I recommend that you do this listening exercise for at least 30 minutes a day.
For this exercise, look for podcasts or TV shows that you like. Start with programs that are easier to understand, and then move on to more advanced programs.
For beginners, I recommend the Speaking Brazilian Podcast, because I speak clearly and at a slow pace.
For intermediate students, I recommend the Café Brasil Podcast and the Globo Repórter videos that you can easily find on YouTube. Also, I recommend that you look for Brazilian series and movies on Netflix.
And speaking of Netflix, let's move on to the second tip: Language Learning with Netflix.
Language Learning with Netflix is a free Google Chrome extension that offers really cool tools for you to study languages through Netflix. For example, you can watch movies with 2 subtitles, one in Portuguese and one in English, and whenever you don't understand a word, just click on the word to hear the pronunciation and see the meaning of that word.
I highly recommend Language Learning with Netflix and I highly recommend that you watch Brazilian movies and series. It’s an excellent listening exercise. There are many Brazilian series on Netflix, for example:
- Most Beautiful Thing
- The Mechanism
- Brotherhood
- Samantha!
